When you have a parent that just doesn't want to read right at the moment, there are 4 easy steps you can take to force them into not only reading to you right then, but enjoying it in spite of their initial unruliness.
1. Pick a small book that appears short and simple. You don't have to tell them that they must read it at least 10 times in a row.
2. In one smooth motion, throw the book at their stomach and tackle them to the ground. This should be fluid and fast.
3. Lay down comfortably and snuggle slightly against them. This technique is guaranteed to reduce them to a big puddle of mushy parental obedience.
4. Applaud after every reading while smiling brightly. They will not be able to help but to read it again, and again, and again, as long as you remain adorably engaged.
Follow these 4 steps to a happier, more you-centered reading time with your favorite parent (because of course it doesn't hurt for them to think you like them the most....for the moment....)
